Robert A. Royce joined the firm in April 2016. Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Royce served as Chief Counsel for Cook Inlet Energy, LLC., an independent oil and gas producer. From 2010 to 2014, he served as an Administrative Law Judge for the Regulatory Commission of Alaska ("RCA"). Mr. Royce also served as a Senior Assistant Attorney General for the State of Alaska, Department of Law where he was counsel to the RCA from 2002 to 2006.
From 1992 to 2002, Mr. Royce represented the Alaska Department of Labor and the Alaska State Commission for Human Rights as an Assistant Attorney General. In addition to his public sector experience, Mr. Royce also has substantial private practice experience representing clients in proceedings before the RCA and in labor and employment matters. He clerked for Chief Judge James M. Fitzgerald, U.S. District Court for the District of Alaska after graduating law school.
Mr. Royce is admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court and all state and federal courts in Alaska. He has been practicing law in Alaska for over thirty years and has successfully litigated numerous reported cases before the Alaska Supreme Court and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.
Mr. Royce graduated from the State University of New York at Oswego with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science in 1981. He received his law degree from California Western School of Law in San Diego in 1985. While in law school, he received the American Jurisprudence Award in Constitutional Law.
