Ms. Brown's practice focuses on utility regulation as well as contractual and corporate law matters for regulated and unregulated electric and telephone utilities. Prior to joining the firm in 2021, Ms. Brown was a Senior Assistant Attorney General with the State of Alaska, where she focused her practice on natural resource and environmental matters. Her experience includes Clean Water Act permitting and enforcement, land use regulation, mine permitting, oil and gas leasing, oil and gas royalty disputes, and tax disputes. During her time at the Attorney General's office, Ms. Brown also provided advice to the Regulatory Commission of Alaska, litigated administrative professional licensing matters, and developed extensive experience with all aspects of legislation and agency rulemaking. Previously, Ms. Brown was an environmental practice associate at Sidley Austin's Washington, D.C. office, where she worked on Clean Water Act and Clean Air Act litigation, as well as Resource Conservation and Recovery Act and the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act matters. Ms. Brown began her legal career clerking for United States District Court Judge John W. Sedwick, District of Alaska.

Ms. Brown is an active member of both the Alaska Bar and the District of Columbia Bar. She is also admitted to practice in the United States District Courts for the District of Alaska and the United States Courts of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, Tenth Circuit, and the District of Columbia Circuit.

Ms. Brown is on the Board of the Anchorage Association of Women Lawyers.

Ashley Brown graduated cum laude, with High Honors in Biology from Dartmouth College in 2000. In 2006 she graduated cum laude from Northwestern University School of Law (now Northwestern Pritzker School of Law), where she was an Associate Editor for the Northwestern University Law Review.
