EXPERIENCE
Mr. Leman's practice areas include labor and employment law, corporate law, business law, real estate, construction, and civil litigation. He has represented Alaska utilities in court proceedings regarding fuel delivery agreements, construction projects, and business contract disputes. He has also litigated claims involving the Alaska Wage and Hour Act, sexual harassment, WARN Act layoff notifications and state taxation of municipalities and cooperatives.
Mr. Leman serves as general counsel for a number of Alaska electric and telephone cooperatives. He drafts business contracts and corporate documents for a number of corporate and individual clients. He has also assisted clients with real property acquisitions, right-of-way issues, long-term real estate leases and native allotments. Mr. Leman serves as a parliamentarian at utility annual meetings and has assisted clients with drafting board policies, Bylaw amendments, employment policies and employment contracts.
Prior to joining the firm in 1997, Mr. Leman served as a law clerk for Judge Andrew Kleinfeld of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit and for Justice Daniel Moore and Justice Dana Fabe of the Alaska Supreme Court. Mr. Leman has been admitted to practice before all state and federal courts in Alaska since 1997.
EDUCATION
Mr. Leman received his Bachelor of Arts degree in 1992 from the University of California, Santa Cruz. He received his law degree in 1995 from the University of California, Davis, School of Law.
